I suffered sexual trauma during service. Where can I get help?

Any Veteran who requires help should contact Veterans Affairs Canada Assistance Service at 1-800-268-7708 to speak with someone immediately. This service is a 24-hour toll-free help line that provides military and RCMP Veterans, and their families, immediate short-term mental health counseling with a professional, along with referral services, including support for mental and emotional health concerns.

Still serving CAF and RCMP members who suffered from sexual trauma during service can contact the same number to speak with someone immediately.

Does Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) provide disability benefits for conditions resulting from sexual trauma related to service?

Veterans or members who have a condition due to sexual trauma related to service, such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Major Depression, and/or physical conditions, are encouraged to apply to VAC for assistance. Veterans or members may apply for any condition linked to sexual trauma related to service with supporting medical information from his or her treating physician/psychologist. A link between the medical condition and sexual trauma related to service must be present.
